Black Body Heart Mind Yoga evolved out of the many years as an Educationalist, Teacher, Facilitator and Mentor/Coach.
It is the culmination of the time I spent working in, and around the field of 'race', racism, racial justice, now anti-racism.
It is a result of my more recent development in the skills and knowledge of holistic healing arts, including Meditation, Holistic Resonance, Yoga, Qigong, Somatic Embodiment and trauma education.
Out of my own healing process, I have gained knowledge in non-pathological approaches to trauma, with a particular focus on Racialised Trauma
Never before have I been in such a position, to offer, comprehensive, group and bespoke 1to1 programs for the Recognition of, Recover from and building Resilience to, Racialised Trauma
No longer do you have to suffer alone the many insults, micro-aggressions, invalidations, and dismissals, commonly associated with systemic racism and racial trauma.
BlackBodyHeartMindYoga positions itself as a haven from the incessant and insidious nature that is racism and racialised trauma.
As Resmaa puts it so clearly...
“You didn’t ask for this trauma. You don’t deserve it. And you didn’t create it. But you may be doing things to keep it locked inside your body and you may be passing it on to others. …Racialised trauma is not a defect, a sin, or a source of shame. Remember, trauma is a human body’s normal response to an experience that it perceives as overwhelming”.
In this sense racialised trauma is much like an infection. You didn’t ask or attempt to become infected. But once you have fallen ill, it is your responsibility to heal – not through some ostensible act of will, but through an embodied emergent process”. Resmaa Menakem (2022).
